Meet the Artist
Claiborne Cooksey is a Mississippi artist who is most inspired by the Lord’s creation - from heirloom blooms in her grandmother's garden to the trees on the family farm. Over the last few years, she has been exploring southern magnolias, becoming more obsessed with their symbolic meaning and watching how the Lord is continually threading it all together.

The Original Sunshine
A few years ago, the Lord reminded me of his sovereignty when I was walking through a season of anxiety. One day, I saw a perfect circle on the wall, like a reflection of some sort, and I was totally puzzled. Finally, I realized it was the sunshine. The sun was coming through a window from the other room perfectly and shining through the crack of a door that my toddler had just pushed almost to a close. I felt so much peace in that moment, and that the Lord was reminding me of his sovereignty over everything - he tells the sun to rise and has written all of our days even before we were born. I hope these pieces will remind you of the goodness of the Lord even in hard times and give you a sense of peace. I'll be writing more about my process this year in the studio this year.
