About

Claiborne Cooksey is a southern artist with a fine art degree from Mississippi State University and over a decade of experience in graphic design and marketing. For Claiborne, painting has been like a "recess for the mind" over the years - a time to relax at the end of the day. She is known for her loose painting studies of heirloom magnolias that bloom in her grandmother's yard and the flooded timber on the family farm. She would love for you to see her abstracts as a representation of life with all of its sweet strokes and hard seasons, the push and pull, wrinkles, layers and changing of colors — even the unexpected mistakes that make it all more beautiful. You will also see shiny sunshine paintings threaded through her work which are symbolic of a moment when the Lord reminded her of his sovereignty and love when she was walking through a season of anxiety. She is so thankful for God’s favor and grace, and opportunities to be creative everyday and hopes that you all are refreshed and inspired along the way.
