About

I grew up outside of Vicksburg, Mississippi where I am lucky to still live with my husband and little girl. I was a creative child, attended many art camps in the summers, but tucked it all away as the years went on because being a professional artist didn’t seem realistic. It wasn’t until the very end of high school that I had an incredible opportunity to work as a preliminary drawer for local artist, H.C. Porter. My time at the gallery prepared me for art school and influenced me in so many ways. I graduated from Mississippi State University with a graphic design degree in 2013 and have specialized in multimedia design over the years, focusing mostly on video editing along with logo, web and print design. It wasn’t until recently, after much encouragement and support from my husband, that I started focusing more on fine art. Painting is the most freeing form of creating for me - a recess for my mind and hands and the most challenging but rewarding way to see a project to completion. My work is most inspired by the Lord’s creation - the flowers that were planted generations ago that still bloom in my grandmother's yard, family and friends and life's special moments, the flooded fields of the family farm when the Mississippi River comes rolling in - the subject matter is ever changing. I hope that viewers of my abstract pieces see them as a representation of this life we live with all of its sweet strokes and hard seasons, the push and pull, wrinkles, layers and changing of colors, and even the unexpected mistakes that make it all more beautiful. Music is always playing in my studio and most every painting has been sung and prayed over, lived with, and loved before its released. I am so thankful for the Lord's continued favor and grace to be able to paint and create everyday and I hope that you all are refreshed and inspired along the way.
